new senior trips planned
The Recreation Department has secured seats on the following upcoming Prime Time Travel Trips: Tuesday, December 2 nd - Holiday Decorations at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan (cost $59) Due to time constraints, the full cost of this trip is due at the time of registration. Enjoy the Choirs of Angels Tours as well as free time to explore this beautiful museum! An added attraction will be the Museum's magnificent annual Christmas Tree and the Neapolitan Baroque Creche. A Prime Time Coach bus will take us in and bring us home. Lunch will be "on your own." Wednesday, March 4 th - The Philadelphia Flower show (cost $74) This special one day trip to one of the nation's premier floral shows will feature the special theme of "Bella Italia". Walk around the spectacular gardens and sit in on workshops to get ideas for the upcoming spring season. Lunch will be "on your own". Tuesday, April 28 - an "NYPD" Tour of NYC (cost $79) With a retired NYPD police officer as our tour guide, we will explore New York City on a motorcoach as he shares his knowledge and experience as one of New York's finest. After our tour, we will go to Little Italy to enjoy lunch at SPQR. Space is limited to 25 people for each trip! Preregistration is necessary for all our trips and a $30 deposit (except for the 12/2 trip, which requires full payment) made payable to "Prime Time Travel" is needed to attend any of the above trips. Also coming soon - A trip to the Intrepid in May st. paul's senior center fall hours One of the best comradeship and fun experiences with fellow seniors is at St. Paul's Senior Center! We are located in the cottages at St. Paul's Recreation Complex and are open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for any person aged 60 or above who is a resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City. We have games, speakers, song groups, trips, and lots of fun and comradeship. There will be a seasonal kickoff on Wednesday, September 10th to welcome everyone back. Let's all get together and look forward to a great new season. Our weekly schedule is as follows: Monday, October 20- 10 a.m. Exercise with Felicia Tuesday, October 21-10 a.m. Board games with Andrew - challenge your checker partner Wednesday, October 22- 10 a.m. Exercise with Felicia11:30 a.m. Brown Bag Thursday, October 23-10 a.m. Games with Andrew 1 p.m. Crafts with Adele or special needlework with Natalie Friday, October 24-Exercise with Felicia SENIOR HEALTH FAIR AT HOFSTRA Senator Kemp Hannon is hosting his 7th Annual Senior Health Expo at Hofstra University on Thursday, October 30th from 9 am to 1 pm. The Recreation Department would like to help our resident seniors attend this event so we are offering transportation to Hofstra on this day. The recreation bus will leave St. Paul's Senior Center at 9 a.m. on Thursday, October 30th. Anyone attending will have two hours to visit over 80 providers, including, in cooperation with Nassau University Medical Center, the Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs and New Island Hospital, a flu and pneumonia immunization program for seniors over 60. If you are interested in getting immunized, there is no out-of-pocket costs for you, but you must make a reservation to receive a shot by calling the Community Office at 739-1700 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. When calling to make a reservation, the person must provide name, address, phone, age, Medicare # and name of HMO or private insurance company to the Community Office. The bus will then leave Hofstra at approximately 11 a.m. to return to the Village. The bus service free but a reservation is necessary. To reserve a seat on the bus, please call the Recreation Office at 465-4075.
