The Garden City Grapplers, now in their tenth season, are The largest and most successful youth wrestling team in Nassau County. We stress the basics of wrestling focusing on physical fitness and sportsmanship. Two important attributes for all athletes, with over 80 boys, the Grapplers have dominated Long Island wrestling winning many county and state team titles, individual tournaments, and dual meets. Boys may compete on one or two teams:

The Town Team: Open to beginners and intermediate wrestlers in 2nd - 6th grade. This team is led by NCAA All-American Wrestler Jon Masa and coaches Lofrese, Jarvis, Foxen, and Halaby. They practice Tuesday and Thursday from 6:15 - 7:30 in the high school. Wrestling room starting December 2nd and ending the first week of March. The Town team will attend local tournaments and participate in informal dual meets against other town teams. The cost is $85 including a team t-shirt.

The Tournament Team: This competitive squad is for more advanced wrestlers up to the 8th grade. The tournament team coached by wrestling Hall of Famer Paul Gillespie and All-American wrestlers Jon Masa and Mike Torriero. They practice Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:30 - 8:45 in the high school wrestling room beginning November 17th and ending the first week of March. The tournament team participates in local and tri-state tournaments and competitive dual meets. The cost for this tournament team is $350 which includes the USA wrestling card and uniform.
