Winthrop-University Hospital's Advances in Cancer Care educational series will offer a free program, "Leukemia, Myeloma & Lymphoma: New Tests, New Drugs, New Hope," on Tuesday, October 21, 2008. It will be held at Winthrop's Community Outreach Center, 101 Mineola Boulevard at the corner of Second Street in Mineola.

The approach to the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic leukemias, as well as multiple myeloma, is changing, based on the results of extensive, ongoing research. Harry Staszewski, MD, Chief of the Division of Oncology/Hematology at Winthrop, will update you on the latest information and explain the research that has resulted in the newest approaches. A question and answer period will follow the lecture.
