Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem
On October 10, 11:45 p.m., a 34-year-old Hempstead man riding a bike was allegedly accosted by 4 individuals who took his backpack and demanded property. They took a cell phone and $40 US. Currently, police have arrested two 14-year-old Hempstead juveniles for robbery 2nd degree and an investigation continues...At 8:55 p.m., on October 12, police responded to Second Street where a 41-year-old driver was responsible for driving his car into a parked car there. He was arrested for alleged DWI (.19%) and taken to Winthrop Hospital. Also, the FD aided in the extrication of this driver whose car had overturned... Between October 12 and 13, someone slashed 3 tires to a Mercedes Benz parked at Euston Road...On October 10, in the morning, license plates were found missing from a Cadillac parked at a garage at Franklin Avenue...A truck stop, was held at Clinton Road, on October 10. The State DOT was there and 8 trucks were inspected with 46 tickets issued, 6 trucks taken out of service; 6 for overweight...
Fire Responses:
A booster extinguished a rubbish fire at Clinton Road on October 9... The FD used a wet vac to drain water from a basement where a gas boiler had been overfilled at a Garden Street residence on October 11...On October 13, firemen climbed an extension ladder and rescued a cat stuck on a roof at a Wellington Road house... A Spruce Street homeowner was advised to call the FD every time a carbon monoxide alarm sounds. The homeowner had waited before calling, and luckily there were no levels of carbon monoxide in the house when firemen arrived...On October 15, there was an overheated light ballast at a Franklin Avenue location...
