The Episcopal Cathedral of the Incarnation offered a very special Festival Evensong on Saturday, October 11 at 3:00 p.m. to celebrate the rededication of the Cathedral spire and the blessing of the rebuilt tower bells. The Evensong was sung by the full Cathedral Choirs including the Men and Boys Choir, the Girls Choir and the Scholar Cantorum (women's choir). The Evensong service included beautiful sacred music including:Voluntaries: Psalm Prelude II by Herbert Howells; Voluntaries: Benedictus by Max Reger; the Introit Locus iste by Anton Bruckner; Preces and Responses by Paul Halley; Psalm 46, an Anglican chant adapted from Luther; The Magnificant and Nunc dimittis b Stanford - Evening Service in A; the Anthem "I was glad" by Charles Perry; the Voluntary Sonata in G Allegro maestoso by Edward Elgar; and several tradition hymns.

Members of the Cathedral's congregation, representatives from Episcopal churches all over the Diocese of Long Island and guests from the Village of Garden City and surrounding communities joined in the celebration. Diocesan Bishop Orris G. Walker participated in the service.

For the first time since the summer of the year 2000 the Cathedral can be seen without scaffolding and much work has been done on both the outside and inside. This beautiful centerpiece of the Village of Garden City is well on her way to being restored to her former majesty. You are invited to stop by and walk the magnificent Cathedral grounds and step into the church. You will be very moved by the beauty and history that surrounds you.
