The Art Of Protest In America
On Sunday, November 2, at 11 am, Leonard Meiselman will present "Art Cries Out: The Art of Protest." From the Holocaust and Hiroshima to Iraq and Darfur, this talk will explore the role of the arts and artists in American culture, including painting, photography, video documentary and theatre arts in response to violence, war and genocide.
The presentation will take place at the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island, located at 38 Old Country Road, Garden City, NY (at the western end of Old Country Road, next to the water tower).
Leonard Meiselman received his art education at Cooper Union, the Skowhegan School of Art (Maine) and Cranbrook Academy (Michigan). He has had one-person exhibitions at the Camden Arts Center, London; the Yeshiva University Museum, New York, the Holocaust Center, Manhasset, New York and his paintings have appeared in group shows, including the Allan Stone Gallery, New York, the Florence Biennale (Palazzo Strozzi) and the Hebrew Union College Museum, New York.
