Trojans Play To 2-2 Tie Against Mineola

The Mineola Mustangs boys varsity soccer team traveled to Garden City to take on the Trojans on Friday afternoon, October 3rd. The teams had already played each other once this season, with Garden City winning 1-0. Mineola scored first on a goal by Joe Lee. Garden City tied it up on a goal by James Mignon, off an assist from his brother, Will. With the score tied 1-1 and 18:39 left in the game, Mineola broke the tie when Christian Lird scored after an assist from Nuno Rodrigues. Seven minutes later GC's Phil Vouyiouklakis took a shot that hit the post and rebounded toward teammate Mike DiMasso. DiMasso took the rebound and scored for the Trojans, tying the score 2-2. Garden City goalkeeper Mike Lind made 8 saves as the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
The team will travel to Great Neck North for a 4:30 game this afternoon.
