This season, Garden City Basketball returns to Saturday MORNINGS at the St Paul's fieldhouse.

The current schedule is:

* the K-1st-2nd grade clinic 8:00am - 9:30am

* Girls 3rd-6th Grade teams 9:30am - 11:00am

* Boys 3rd & 4th Grade teams 11:00am - noon

* Boys 5th & 6th Grade teams Noon - 1:00pm

* and our Boys 7th - 10th Grade league will be on Friday Nights

The regular intramural game day season is expected to start Saturday, December 6th and run through March 2009. In addition, we expect to have at least one clinic of skills & drills for each age group during the week at night in November. These clinics continue throughout the season.

Our $50 fee remains the same. Our organization doesn't believe in charging a late fee. However, we are ordering uniforms in October and teams are formed in November, so please help our planning by registering now. Garden City Basketball will continue to accept late registrations and we will always work to accommodate these participants. The recreation department does allocate space based upon enrollment, signing up now makes sure you are counted.

This season, we will return to the Professional Athletic Performance Center for specialized sessions on Speed, Agility, and Quickness specifically tailored for the Garden City Basketball program. Only participants in our program may attend this special event.

The focus of Garden City Basketball is our intramural program. Our greater mission is to provide a wonderful experience for all of our participants so that a love of the life long game of basketball will be nurtured and grow. No tension, No pressure, equal teams with equal playing time...development and fun.

The weeknight clinics held by Garden City Basketball are some of the best that you will find. The focus at our clinics is on skills, drills, development, and fun. We held at least 6 clinics for each of our 3rd grade through 7th grade participants (that's NINE hours of instruction) last season. Our K-1-2 clinic supplied over THIRTY hours of instruction! We believe that Garden City Basketball is second to none in the quality and amount of training we fairly allocate to our participants. For our weeknight clinics, we are fortunate to have AAU/Island Garden Instructors, Brian Huber from FST, the starting forward from Christ the King, and Garden City High School players adding to the caliber of our sessions. This season the Chaminade JV Coach and one his assistants are being added to our list of intramural instructors.

It goes without saying, volunteers are always needed. If you would like to help in any way...just let us know and we'll get you into the mix. Everyone appreciates the coaches but it is the parents that help setup, bring the coffee, take down the banners, provide assistance to participants, and more that also makes Garden City Basketball a great program.

As a proud member of the JrNBA and JrWNBA, we suggest you select the JrNBA logo on our website for information about NBA Cares, free camps, and pledge to be a S.T.A.R. (sportsmanship, teamwork, attitude, & respect). Check out the links for Coaches, Players, and Parents. Each link will lead you to an awesome guide that provides valuable basketball information that everyone should read. Last season we were honored to be selected to host a JrNBA/JrWNBA Skills Challenge. This great event is open to everyone (including non-participants in our program) and we had numerous contestants receive regional and national honors. More to come on the Skills Challenge as we approach winter. We are also pleased to say that five of our coaches have received regional recognition from the JrNBA/JrWNBA.

Our website main page at www.gardencitybasketball.org , our background link, and K-1-2 Clinic links provide a wealth of information on our program.

We believe that Garden City Basketball has the vision, dedication, and sets the standard for youth basketball in the village of Garden City.

We look forward to you and your child being a part of our program. If there are any questions, please contact John Skramko at jskramko@optonline.net or 746-9659.
