Grace Limoncelli, David Gage, and Lee Bono are eager to return to Buckley on the first day of school! Buckley Country Day School, serving children from toddler through grade eight, opened its doors in September with great excitement and enthusiasm. Founded in 1923 with only 23 students, this independent, co-educational day school welcomed 341 students from 32 districts this year.

At the opening assembly, Headmaster Dr. Jean-Marc Juhel's welcoming address set the tone for the year. After extending a warm welcome to all the new children, with a special welcome to the senior members of the student body, the class of 2009, Dr. Juhel talked to all about common goals. "We must have common goals because I know that, at the end of the day, we all want and expect the same things when we come here every morning. We all expect that if we put forward our best effort, we will learn new things and grow; we expect that if we are a good friend to everyone, we will make good friends; and we expect that everyone is doing everything they can to keep Buckley safe." Dr. Juhel then elaborated on his five common goals: "commit daily acts of kindness; take a stand against acts of meanness; show your appreciation for all that you are receiving; try to learn and accomplish something you thought you could never learn or accomplish with 'mental toughness and heart'; and preserve the spirit of summer. Have a great year, everyone!"

Upper school friends Ryann Coughlin, Alexandra Jabour, and Kelly Kessenich are very excited to start another school year at Buckley! Then, in true Buckley tradition, the eighth graders welcomed each newcomer to the school community as another exciting year began.
