Fire Prevention Day& Open House

The Garden City Fire Department has announced it will be holding its Annual Fire Prevention Day and Open House on Sunday, October 5th at Fire Headquarters on Stewart Ave in the Village Hall Complex. The event begins at 12:00 pm.

The event is held each year in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week. This year's National theme is "It's Fire Prevention Week: Prevent Home Fires!" The Open House has something for everyone in the family. The event will include full dress inspection of the fire department by Village officials, followed by an afternoon of firefighting and fire safety demonstrations. According to this year's event coordinator, Assistant Chief William Castoro, "it's a great afternoon for our residents to see our equipment up close, to have fun, and learn about the importance of fire safety." Those attending this event will receive free giveaways, brochures, balloons, plastic fire helmets for the kids, and, of course, complimentary refreshments for all ! The fire department cordially invites all residents, their friends and families to enjoy the afternoon with them.
