GC Shooting Stars Continue To Shine

2008-10-03 / Sports

The U10 girls Shooting Stars continued their winning ways this week with a convincing 3-0 win over Oyster Bay.

The Stars shined again, this time in adverse weather conditions that might have an affect on your typical team, but not this group of tough young girls!

Thru a steady rain and wind, the Shooting Stars offense continued to light it up! Coach Ardito was determined to get his team out to an early lead in order to allow the Stars to demonstrate their all around skills with some extensive position switches from prior games this season.

An all around great effort was shown on both offense and defense from Merideth Aneser, Catherine Lori, Elizabeth McKay, Bridget Shea, Caitlin Etienne, Dominique Dragatto & Eileen Farrell

Not only did the opposing keeper have to deal with tough weather conditions, but also a storm of offensive Shooting Stars. The offense was led in the first half by Annie Crowley who scored 2 first half goals that were assisted by Julia Foxen. In the second half Hannah Ardito stepped up to the offensive end and delivered the third and final goal for the Stars.

Caroline Munn was a tremendous first half goal keeper and Cate Schick followed her in the second half to complete the Shooting Stars 3rd shutout.

This game truly demonstrated the overall skills and determination of the Shooting Stars. The girls demonstrated their abilities to all play various positions on the field and work well as a team throughout. The Shooting Stars continue to demonstrate tremendous team effort and a willingness to make all the commitments needed to have a great season.
