On Sunday, September 28, the GC Warriors Boys U12 soccer team advanced to the third round of the NY State Cup with a decisive win over the Albertson Strikers. The Warriors 3-0 victory was the result of a tremendous team effort. More ... The U-11 Garden City Flash continue their Fall 2008 Cinderella Season and as they continue to be undefeated in Division One Fall 2008 season games. Not only are they unbeaten, but thus far they have not been scored upon in their regular season games thanks to incredible defensive play and meticulous net keeping. More ... The U10 girls Shooting Stars continued their winning ways this week with a convincing 3-0 win over Oyster Bay. The U10 Garden City Wildcats continued their winning ways the last two weekends with an impressive shutout of the Massapequa Lightning. At the newly turfed Field of Dreams the Wildcats demonstrated why they are a force to be reckoned with in the Nassau Major Division this fall. More ... The Sting played an excellent game last weekend. Taking a 1-0 lead into the 5th inning, they gave up a run to tie the game. In the 6th, Massapequa plated another run for a 2-1 lead. Unfortunately, the Sting were unable to push across a run in the top of the 7th, leaving the bases loaded. It was another hard fought game for the Sting. More ... In the early match, at Skelos Field, in RVC on Saturday morning, the GC Flames played a cracker of a match against the Rockville Centre Mustangs. Garden City consistently ran down every ball put into their zone by the Mustangs and used quick pinpoint passing to start their numerous counterattacks. More ... The U12 GC Xtreme traveled to HBC Soccer Park in Huntington this past Saturday. the host of the match was the HBC Lightning. The Xtreme have faced four difficult opponents this fall, but the Lightning was certainly the most talented and athletic team they have seen so far. The Xtreme put forth a great effort, but on this day the Lightning were quicker to the ball and won the match 2-0. More ... In a classic hard nose football game at GCAA Stewart Field last Sunday The Lictra Thunder 9's prevailed over a very tough Baldwin Bomber team. The Thunder Defense continued their remarkable performance this season by repeatedly stopping an explosive Baldwin offense in the Red Zone. More ... More ... After what seemed like two straight days of rain the skies cleared long enough for the Moscatiello Thunder 7 year olds to play against the Chiefs of Mineola. The game was played in front of hundreds of fans under the lights on the new artificial turf field at Tully Park. For years Mineola and Garden City have been rivals and every game always seems to be a battle to the final whistle. More ... The old saying that "the best offense is a good defense" could not have been any more applicable last Sunday when the Thunder O'Connor 7s took on Bellmore. The boys were glad to be back in the friendly confines of Stewart field. Bellmore won the opening toss and elected to receive. Garden City set the tone early on defense with key tackles by Jack Cobb and a forced fumble by Sean Tariche. More ... More ... The U-14 Thunderbolts had a disappointing pair of tie games and a tough loss to open their Fall 2008 Season. The team looked great as they took First Place at the Oceanside Tournament over Labor Day weekend but just could not close the deal in three tightly contested matches. The bad luck took a positive turn as the Thunderbolts faced POB last Saturday. More ... The Girls Varsity Swimming and Diving team improved their record to 4-0 with wins against Bellmore-Merrick and Manhasset this past week. The boys varsity soccer team played host to Cold Spring Harbor on Thursday afternoon, September 25th. This has been the season of close games for the Trojans. Other than a 3-1 loss to Jericho, all of their games have been decided by one goal or less and this game was no exception. More ...
