Friends Of Mercy Golf Outing
Friends of Mercy Golf Classic honoree Charles R. Joyce (left) is congratulated by Friends president Rob Bossart.
Perfect weather, a large turnout, and the generosity of donors and participants combined to enable The Friends of Mercy Medical Center to raise $50,000 at their 27th Annual Golf Classic.
More than 130 golfers enjoyed play on September 18th at Rockville Links in Rockville Centre and the post-outing dinner paying tribute to Charles R. Joyce of Rockville Centre.
Mr. Joyce, who currently serves as a Trustee and Deputy Mayor of the Village of Rockville Centre, was honored for more than four decades of community service as a member of the Rockville Centre Volunteer Fire Department. He has responded to more than 500 Fire Department calls in each of the past 20 years and recently was selected as a 2008 "Volunteer of Valor" by State Senator Dean G. Skelos and recognized as such in a special ceremony in Albany.
This year's Golf Classic was chaired by Joe Tarulli of Garden City, president of County Carting, and proceeds from the event will support the recent acquisition of new state-of-the-art equipment for the hospital's Women's Imaging Center. Major supporters included Smart Center Roslyn at Rallye Mercedes which donated a Smart Car for a hole-in-one and Living Legends Memorabilia in Bellmore, which provided Silent Auction items.
