Flu Shots At Senior Health & Awareness Day
Senator Kemp Hannon (R-6th S.D.) announces reservations for flu shots at his 7th Annual Senior Health & Awareness Day on October 30th can still be made by calling his Community Office at 739-1700 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Senior Health & Awareness Day is Thursday, October 30, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the David S. Mack Sports Complex at Hofstra University in Uniondale; and the day will also feature senior health information, various health screenings and information on senior programs such as elder care and long term health care insurance.
Senior Citizen
Flu Vaccination Program
Flu shots will be dispensed in cooperation with Nassau University Medical Center, Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs and New Island Hospital. There is no out-of-pocket expense to seniors. Nassau County reserves the right to cancel or amend this program depending on vaccine availability.
Influenza immunizations are being offered to Nassau County residents age 60 and over; and to their spouses. Most brands of influenza vaccine are packaged in vials or syringes that contain natural rubber or latex. Persons with a severe allergy to latex generally should not receive vaccine packaged in these vials or syringes.
Registration
Flu shots are by appointment only. When making reservations, you must supply the Name, Address, Phone #, Date of Birth, Medicare # or Insurance name of person(s) making appointment; and also note if person is receiving the pneumonia vaccine.
Free screenings at Senior Health and Awareness Day include blood pressure screening, glaucoma screening, cholesteral testing, posture screening, body composition analysis and upper neck and back massage. No reservations are necessary for these screenings.
Senior Health & Awareness Day provides seniors with the opportunity to speak with representatives from various health care agencies and programs, as well as gather information on some of the most important health issues facing seniors today. More than 90 state, county and local groups and agencies will be represented at the event.

In order for us to maintain a healthy quality of life we must be conscious of our bodies' needs, and this event will provide the information and testing needed to enhance understanding of personal health."
