st. paul's senior center fall hours

One of the best comradeship and fun with fellow seniors is at St. Paul's Senior Center! We are located in the cottages at St. Paul's Recreation Complex and are open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for any person aged 60 or above who is a resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City.

We have games, speakers, song groups, trips, and lots of fun and comradeship. There will be a seasonal kickoff on Wednesday, September 10th to welcome everyone back. Let's all get together and look forward to a great new season.

Our weekly schedule is as follows:

Monday, October 6- 10 a.m. Exercise with Felicia

11 a.m. Bingo with chocolate for the winner and friends time in the library room. Then bring a brown bag lunch and enjoy with friends.

Tuesday, October 7-10 a.m. Board games with Andrew

Forbes Museum with previous registration

Wednesday, October 8- 10 a.m. Exercise with Felicia11:30 a.m. Brown Bag Lunch and now a new month with a new surprise for each of us as we bring a wrapped gift to be called off by the number we received as we walk in! Talk about "Can you guess this"?

Thursday, October 9-10 a.m. Games with Andrew

1 p.m. Crafts with Adele or special needlework with Natalie

Friday, October 10-10 a.m. Exercise with Felicia

SENIOR HEALTH FAIR AT HOFSTRA

Senator Kemp Hannon is hosting his 7th Annual Senior Health Expo at Hofstra University on Thursday, October 30th from 9 am to 1 pm. The Recreation Department would like to help our resident seniors attend this event so we are offering a transportation to Hofstra on this day.

The recreation bus will leave St. Paul's Senior Center at 9 a.m. on Thursday, October 30th. Anyone attending will have two hours to visit over 80 providers, including, in cooperation with Nassau University Medical Center, the Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs and New Island Hospital, a flu and pneumonia immunization program for seniors over 60. If you are interested in getting immunized, there is no out of pocket costs for you but you must make a reservation to receive a shot by calling the Community Office at 739-1700 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. When calling to make a reservation, the person must provide name, address, phone, age, Medicare # and name of HMO or private insurance company to the Community Office.

The bus will then leave Hofstra at approximately 11 a.m. to return to the Village. The bus service free but a reservation is necessary. To reserve a seat on the bus, please call the Recreation Office at 465-4075.

SENIOR TRIP TO MATINEE PERFORMANCE AT ADELPHI

The Recreation Department is offering a trip for seniors to Adephi University to see a matinee performance of "Searching for a Goddess," a dance tribute to Ruth St. Denis, founder of Adelphi's Dance program. This performance will be on Friday, October 17 at 11 a.m. Tickets are $10 and space is limited. The Recreation Bus will leave St. Paul's Senior Center at 10:15 a.m. Preregistration is necessary and this trip must be paid for in cash.

TRIP TO MUSEUM

The Recreation Department will sponsor a trip to the Three Village Inn and Museum on Wednesday, October 15th. Our Recreation Bus will leave St. Paul's Senior Center at 10 a.m. We will visit the Museum and then enjoy lunch at the Inn, returning to St. Paul's Senior Center sometime in the late afternoon. The cost of this trip will be $44. Space is limited and preregistration is necessary. To register, you must visit the Recreation Office at 108 Rockaway Avenue. Payment may be made in cash only.
