Thunder O'Connor 7's Take Down Bellmore "A"
Thunder Drives for First Down
The Thunder O'Connor 7s rumbled into Bellmore on Sunday morning with a potent offensive attack and a shutdown defense. With a huge student body supporting them on their first road trip there was a special feeling in the air!
Thunder 7s won the opening coin toss and drove down the field. The offensive line spearheaded by Teddy Ferzola, Matthew McGovern, Jack Ryan, Liam Griffith, Brendan McEvoy, Riley-Coughlin-Roberti, and Brendan Campbell opened huge holes for the backfield of Paul Varano, Aidan O'Connor, and Richard Petrone. QB Jack Muldoon was quoted as saying "My dad's back hoes couldn't make bigger holes than our offensive line!" The drive was capped off by a Justin Coppola scamper into the endzone.
The defense allowed only one score for the entire contest and did not let up a first down in the entire second half! With the score tied 6-6 Bellmore stepped back to pass. Sean Tariche stepped in front of the intended receiver, intercepted the ball and rumbled just short of the endzone. This set up the second touchdown run of the day for Justin Coppola. The defensive line of Matthew Conelli, Dylan McDonald, Connor Gunn, and Alex Erickson spent most of their day hanging out in the Bellmore backfield. The defensive secondary was making hits all day long. Jack "You Don't Throw On Me" Cobb and Matthew "Steve Atwater" Marooney looked as if they were being launched out of a cannon. The Thunder 7s ended the scoring when Colin Hart broke through the middle and steamrolled 50 yards for a touchdown. When the final gun sounded our Thunder 7s secured their first career victory 18-6. In postgame interviews all the players wanted to thank their family and friends for making the trip down south and asked that everyone come out Sunday afternoon to see them take on the Bellmore "B" Braves at Stewart Field. Kick-off is 1:00pm. GO THUNDER!
