Garden City Girls' Summer Lacrosse League

In the first ever Garden City Summer Girls' Lacrosse League, there were great accomplishments both on and off the field.

Approximately one hundred and fifty girls from Garden City, Floral Park, East Meadow, Rockville Centre, Manhasset, and Port Washington participated in a six-week summer lacrosse league held at St. Paul's.

Not only were the girls afforded the opportunity to continue to improve their skills and to have fun, but they also were given the opportunity to pull together and show the true meaning of teamwork: Thanks to their participation, and to the joint efforts of Kevin Oecker of The Garden City Recreation Department, Gary O'Connor of Garden City Girls Rams Lacrosse, and coaches Henry Beihoff, Tom Gordon, and Mimi Aneser, and also to the generosity of parents and spectators, the league raised $2,158.00 for Christopher Levi, a twenty-three year old soldier from Holbrook; Levi was seriously injured and lost both his legs in 2008, while serving his country in Iraq. The money raised by the league will be used to help with the reconstruction of Levi's Holbrook home so that it will be handicap accessible upon his return. "Great job done by all! We look forward to an even bigger and better league next year!" adds Coach Beihoff.
