Cathedral Religious Education Registration
Children and parents and members of the Cathedral staff gather around the registration table after the 9:30 a.m. Family Mass to enroll in the religious education programs.
Church school registration for grades Pre-K through 6th grade is currently being held at the Episcopal Cathedral of the Incarnation. Classes begin on Sunday, September 28.at 10:30 a.m. at the Mercer School located on the grounds of the Cathedral. The curriculum being used, Living the Good News, is a lectionary based curriculum. The lectionary is the selection of the readings including the lessons and the gospel that is used at Mass. The mission of the Living the Good News curriculum is to "shape and transform lives and communities through shared experiences of the Sunday readings." Every Sunday, at every age level, Living the Good News shares a common focus from the readings of the day. Because all age levels explore at least one common Bible reading each week, family members can discuss their discoveries together at home.
Registration is also ongoing for the Journey to Adulthood/Rite 13 Program. This program is for those in grades 7 through 11. The first gathering of the youth will be on Sunday, September 28 at 6:45 p.m. in the Mercer School. The young people will gather twice a month to explore aspects of their lives with particular attention to the relationships they have with family and friends. They will also discern what their responsibilities are to society and to the environment, and most importantly, the significance of God in their lives.
To register for either of these programs or for further information about them, please contact Deacon Connie Lorenz through the Cathedral Office at 516-746-2955 or come to the first sessions on September 28 at the Mercer School.
