Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R,C,I-East Meadow) advises all homeowners to be on the lookout for their STAR Rebate checks that will be mailed on October 6th. "The STAR Rebate is a great program that I fought to have put back in the budget to help homeowners in our community. In this day with the high cost of living any tax break that I can possibly get for my constituents, I am more then happy to fight for" stated the Assemblyman.

The STAR Rebate program releases some of the burden that is placed on homeowners that pay real property taxes. For those who received checks in 2007, a check will be automatically mailed to your house on October 6th by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. For new homeowners that wish to apply for the STAR Rebate program you may do so by visiting the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance website at www.nystax.gov, where you will be able to fill out an application. You can also receive one today by visiting my district office which is located at 224 Seventh Street, Garden City or calling at (516)739-5119. My office is always open to you and ready and willing to help. Listed below are the rebates that homeowners will receive back, depending on which group they fall into.

Garden City School District:

Enhanced STAR = $473.88.

Homeowners making up to $120,000 = $384.81.

Homeowners making over $120,000

and up to $175,000 = $288.61.

Homeowners making over $175,000

and up to $250,000 = $192. 41
