The Chamber of Commerce's annual Street Fair, which was to be held in conjunction with Garden City High School's Homecoming Day, has been cancelled due to predicted poor weather on Saturday, September 28th. The Chamber is considering rescheduling the event, but no date has been announced yet. According to the GCHS Athletic Department, the football game against Long Beach will still take place. The Garden City Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Robert Feirsen expressed concern at the recent increase in vandalism at Stratford Avenue School and discussed ways to help mitigate-or hopefully eliminate-the problem. Blessed with lovely fall weather, the Cherry Valley Ladies Nine Hole golf group held its Mystery Tournament on September 17th. With tricks and treats at each hole, the format provided players with some "fun" golf.
