(Photo by Hector Herrera) Residents with new or gently used bicycles may donate them to help others, through the WE CARE Fund, the charitable arm of the Nassau County Bar Association. Attorneys are coordinating a bike drop on October 6, 7 and 8, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. each day, at NCBA's headquarters at NCBA's headquarters at 15th and West Streets, Mineola. The bikes collected will be donated to Mercy Haven, which supports Long Island's most at-risk residents. The bikes provide a much-needed mode of transportation to enable riders to take advantage of local community services and resources.

WE CARE funds are raised by the legal profession and the community-at-large at various fund raising activities throughout the year. Nearly 100% raised is distributed through charitable grants to improve the quality of life for children, the elderly and others in need throughout Nassau County. In the 20 years since its founding, Nassau County attorneys have raised more than $1.7 million for more than 100 local charitable causes.
