Lictra Thunder 9's Down Franklin Square 7-6
The pursuit by the Thunder D was exceptional all afternoon. Halvatzis, McCartney, Mixon, and Ryan chase down another Franklin Square ball carrier.
All the Thunder 9 players did a tremendous job on a very hot and humid day at Rath Park in Franklin Square last Sunday. The game was highlighted by yet another thrilling goal line stand by the Thunder defense just prior to halftime to preserve their lead.
The stalwart defensive line was led by Bendary, Blair, Halvatzis, Murphy and Salsberg. They repeatedly sacked Franklin Square in their own backfield. The line backers and secondary units of Gormley, Lawson, Mixon, Pappas and Ryan and virtually shut down the big plays and prevented any long gains by Franklin Square. After Franklin Square's opening series, the Thunder Big D shut them out for the entire remainder of the day.
The offensive line with Kavan, McCartney, Ragusa, Tiedemann, Tobin and Walsh completely stymied a very aggressive Franklin Square defense with outstanding blocking for the backfield of DeAngelo, Moran, Nagel and Ventre. The big scoring drive was textbook picture perfect and featured practically flawless execution of their assignments by the entire offense.
QB Nagel and backs Mixon, Moran and DeAngelo confuse the Franklin Square defense and then rip off another big gain.
Many of the boys played both ways and contributed offensively and defensively.
Congratulations to the whole team for their outstanding effort.
