GC Rams Girl's Lacrosse Registration
You may have seen it while driving by the Middle School field and wondered if the game had any rules. To the novice spectator, lacrosse can resemble organize confusion. However, there is rhyme and reason to it and the proof is the great success of our High School Girl's Programs. The Rams Girl's Lacrosse program is the starting point to that success. In fact last year we had over 350 girls registered, making us the largest community based travel girls' lacrosse program in the metro area. Rams Girl's Lacrosse is open to all girls in grades 3 to 8 who resided in the Village of Garden City or go to school within the village.
Coach Training and
Student Coaching Opportunities
This year the Rams Girl's Lacrosse program will be partnering with the Nassau County PAL Lacrosse Unit and the Long Island Senior Girl's Youth Lacrosse League in developing a Coaching Leadership Program. All members of the Rams Girl's Lacrosse coaching staff will be required to successfully complete either the US Lacrosse Coaching Level I or II program by January 15th in order to coach in the 2009 season. The curriculum is designed to for both the new and experienced coach and will assist in developing an understanding of the game as well as providing effective youth coaching techniques. The content, which has been developed by US Lacrosse, is a computer based on-line program which will be supplemented by a coaching workshop. Dates, times and location will be announced shortly and will be published in the Garden City News.
The training program will also be offered to High School students as well. High School students who successfully complete the program will be given the opportunity to take on a head coach role with a team while being mentored with an adult coach. The program is open to all high school students who have a desire to coach, basic knowledge of lacrosse and the ability to commit to attending team practices and games.
Indoor Program
Our indoor program request to the Village Recreation Department for the use of the St. Paul's field house is pending approval. As soon as we receive approval from the village, the schedule will be announced via email and in the Garden City News.
3rd Grade Team Coaches Needed
Based on initial interest, we expect to have four teams on the 3rd grade level. Anyone interested in coaching a third grade team should contact the program director.
