Gavin, Sean & Joseph Warming Up. After a change of venue due to the weather, the Sting took to the field at Nassau Haven for their first Home Game of the year. Andrew Hammersley got the game off to a great start by striking out the side. Entering the bottom of the 2nd with the Sting down 1-0, they rallied for their first runs of the season by plating 3 for a 3-1 lead. Entering the 5th inning, the Sting led 6-2 but found themselves in a bases loaded jam with none out. What followed could be the play of the season. With the Hills base runners, running the batter hit a line drive towards Short, which Tommy Reifler snared, step on on 2nd for double play. The runner from 3rd tried to tag up. Tommy Reifler rifled the ball to our catcher Joe Macchiarola who blocked the plate and tagged the runner for a TRIPLE PLAY! Cal Stellato came in to pitch the 6th and 7th to preserve the first of many victories. The Sting won 9-6. Way to go!
