"Rent" Comes Home To Garden City
Tickets are still available for the gala performance of "Rent" at Adelphi's new Performing Arts Center on Saturday, September 27th. The musical, which was written by Adelphi alumnus Jonathan Larson, has many other Adelphi alumni involved in its production, and recently closed on Broadway after a 12 year run. Sadly, Larson passed away of an aortic aneurism on January 25, 1996, just before "Rent's" New York opening.
The five-day Adelphi run of performances will be the first since the Broadway closing, and will help celebrate the opening of the new Adelphi facility.
Tickets for the gala are $150 each, and include a pre-performance tour of the new 53,000 square foot Performing Arts Center and a post-performance champagne reception with an opportunity to meet Al and Nan Larson, the parents of the playwright, one or more members of the original cast and other members of the Adelphi production. Tickets to the non-gala performances are sold out.
Gala tickets can be purchased at the Adelphi box office at 877-4000 or online at aupac.adelphi.edu
The gala performace will be in the Olmstead Theatre at 8 p.m. (Black tie optional.)
