Stratford And Stewart Pen Pals Meet

2008-09-12 / School

It has been a long-standing tradition for Garden City second-grade students at the Stewart School and Stratford Avenue School to reinforce their literary skills through an exchange of letters with a cross-town pen pal during the school year. Second-grade students in Mrs. Stella Guiry's class at the Stewart School and Mrs. Patricia Lupo's class at Stratford Avenue School continued the pen pal tradition, learning the proper format for letter-writing and gaining valuable experience expressing their ideas through written language.

The classes met face-to-face twice during the school year - once in February for brunch at Stratford Avenue and once in June at the Stewart School. Pictured here, celebrating a year of letter-writing, are both second-grade groups at their end-of-year picnic at the Stewart School.
