St. Paul's Forums To Be Held Tuesday
Residents unable to stop by the first set of Open House information forums being offered by AvalonBay Communities will be given another opportunity on Tuesday, Sept. 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. in Cluett Hall at St. Paul's.
According to Bert Cunningham, a proposal spokesman, 29 people attended the afternoon session on Sept. 10. The attendance total for the evening session was unavailable at press time. Cunningham expressed concern that Nassau County's plan to conduct aerial spraying to help quell mosquitoes that evening might keep some residents from venturing outdoors.
However, those who did make it to the forum were greeted by an array of men and women representing AvalonBay Communities and other consultants who were prepared to handle concerns and questions about their proposed plan to restore and preserve the Main Building. There were six information stations set up around the room: preferred site plan, design renderings, historic preservation, development impacts, traffic overview and economic benefits to the Village and financial risks being assumed by AvalonBay. A projection screen continuously showed a computer-generated version of what the building and property would look like after project completion.
All of the materials that were on display are posted on AvalonBay's Web site on St. Paul's, www.avalonatstpauls.com/development.html. Comments can be e-mailed directly to the developer via the "Contact" section at the above Web site. For those who want to express their opinion to Mayor Peter Bee and the Board of Trustees, who will ultimately be the ones who decide what to do with the building, the Village has set up an e-mail link on the Administration page on the Village's Web site,
