Garden City Girls Are League Champions

Alex Manning, Coach Mike Rix, Bridget Liddy, Morgayne Rix, Samantha Auricchio, Gianna Esposito. Garden City Basketball's 6th grade girl's entry into the Village of Rockville Centre summer basketball league ended last week. The Garden City girls captured the regular season league title with only one loss and won an exciting 2 game playoff to finish as league champions. Every girl contributed during the summer season! With camp and vacations dominating the schedule the GC Storm managed to have at least 5 players for all but one game.

The Storm was represented by Megan Hayden, Kathryn Parente, Morgayne Rix, Bridget Liddy, Fiona MacLeod and Alex Manning in the first playoff game which the Storm won 14-11 thanks to clutch baskets by Megan, Fiona and Bridget while Alex, Morgayne and Kathryn played great defense in the fourth quarter. The final game was a total team effort as Gianna Esposito and Samantha Auricchio joined Morgayne, Bridget, Fiona and Alex to win 13-11 after being down 8-2 in the first quarter. Gianna and Alex contributed on both ends of the court while Samantha and Fiona made key jump shots to complement key foul shots by Morgayne and Bridget.
