The Rev. Canon Dr. Lynn Collins Christ Episcopal Church invites the public to attend their 10 a.m. Sunday worship service on September 21st. At this service, before the Holy Eucharist/Mass is offered, Episcopal priest, The Rev. Canon Dr. Lynn A. Collins will be the Guest Preacher with a special message to share. As part of the parish's Stewardship Sunday celebration, Dr. Collins will offer a sermon about the importance of giving as a spiritual discipline. She is a dynamic, Spirit-filled, and always thought-provoking preacher. Her sermons are not to be missed!

Presently, Dr. Collins serves as Priest-in-Charge at St John's Episcopal Church in Hempstead, NY. She is a Lecturer at the George Mercer School of Theology in Garden City and serves as the Chairperson of the Diocesan Stewardship Committee for the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island. She is a sixth generation Episcopalian and a fourth generation Episcopal priest. Dr. Collins received her Master's of Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry from New York Theological Seminary and is a graduate of the Harvard University Leadership Program. Before serving in Hempstead, she was a missionary in Alaska, Zimbabwe, Panama, Costa Rico, and the Virgin Island. Before her ordination as a priest, she was a senior systems engineer for 15 years on Wall Street. Thus, she brings a variety of administrative, financial, and spiritual gifts to her ordained ministry.

Following the 10 a.m. service, there will be cookout in the parking lot sponsored by the Christ Church Outreach Committee. Grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, salads, desserts, and drinks will be served. This annual event kicks off the start of the Sunday School year and also the start of the Outreach Committee's program for the 2008-09 year. Free will donations collected that day will be given to Episcopal Charities of Long Island.
