The Western Property Owners Association (WPOA) will hold a general meeting on Wednesday, September 10, at 8 p.m. at Homestead School. All residents of the Western Section are welcome.

The guest speakers will be Matt Whalen from AvalonBay Communities, which is proposing to redevelop the Historic Building at St. Paul's and the surrounding 7 acres, and James Meehan, Chief of the Garden City Fire Department.

In addition, at this meeting, a Nominating Committee will be formed to review applications and interview candidates for the position of Village Trustee, a two-year term that begins in April 2009. Any resident of the Western Section of the Village who is interested in applying for the position of trustee is urged to submit a letter of interest and a resume to: Mr. Tom Whalen, WPOA Secretary, 41 Dartmouth Street, Garden City, NY 11530. The WPOA must present its nominee to the Village for the March 2009 election by December 31, 2008.

The Western Section of Garden City is bordered on the north by the main line of the LIRR, on the east by the west side of Tanners Pond and Edgemere Roads, on the south by Cambridge Avenue and on the west by Jefferson Street.
