Voice auditions are now being held for membership in the Cathedral of the Incarnation's choirs for the coming season. Membership is open to any child regardless of religious affiliation, and the choristers come from a variety of religious traditions. The Cathedral choirs are modeled on the great cathedral choirs of England, and benefits of membership are considerable and include singing the finest of all eras of choral music in the splendid Cathedral. The Cathedral Choirs provide a unique opportunity for a musical education and fellowship for boys and girls.
The choirs are currently seeking boys ages 8-11 and girls ages 9-13. The requirements are an interest in music, 4th grade English reading ability and capability of matching pitches. No previous singing experience is necessary.
There is no tuition charge for the musical training program the boys and girls receive, and, in fact, many choristers earn both stipends for their work and scholarships to attend summer choir courses sponsored by the Royal School of Church Music.
Parents of any child interested in this excellent opportunity to make music at the highest level are invited to call Larry Tremsky, Organist and Master of the Choirs at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, (516) 746-2956 x 18, to set up an interview and simple audition.
