Troop 243 Member Wins Citizenship Award
     Garden City resident James Morrell, a recent St. Joseph's School graduate and active member of St. Joseph's Church Boy Scout Troop 243, was the winner of the prestigious Past Commander John A. O'Keefe Memorial Award for Excellence in American History and Citizenship. James was selected from the many applicants with the help of his teacher, Mrs. Impellizeri, for this award sponsored by the William Bradford Turner American Legion Post 265. Post Commander John C. Donovan presented James with his award at the annual Graduation Breakfast at the Cherry Valley Country Club. James plans to continue his high school studies at St. Dominic's High School in Oyster Bay.

Garden City Dance Project Begins Season
      Garden City Dance Project begins an exciting year ahead with its 15th season under the direction of Jean Philippou and Annie Ippolito. Anna Farkas also joins the Dance Project staff as ballet teacher. Dance Project is comprised of Garden City girls ages 10 through high school as well as alumni members who return from college each year to dance in the end-of-year performance.

Katie was visiting a friend who lived across the street, They had been riding their bicycles when they went into the friend's house to watch a program. When they came out Katie's purple Schwinn bike was missing. They looked up and down the street to no avail and of course Katie was very upset.
