Senator Kemp Hannon (R-6th S.D.) recently presented Kerry Wallace with a proclamation recognizing her as a recipient of the prestigious New York State Senate Achievers' Award, an honor the Senate created in conjunction with Senate Disabilities Awareness Day to honor distinguished achievements by New Yorkers with disabiliities. Diagnosed since birth with severe Spina Bifida, Wallace, together with her husband, has worked with March of Dimes to spread knowledge of the prevention of Spina Bifida. A Garden city resident, Wallace has also served as president of the Nassau County Spina Bifida Association. She is currently the manager for Research and Education at the North Shore-LIJ Monter Cancer Center. Senator Hannon said, "It is my great honor to recognize Kerry Wallace as an extraordinary individual who has risen above conditions which might otherwise have hindered a purposeful life of achievement."
