Hemlock Custodian Celebrates Citizenship
Garden City Schools Custodian Ghulam Nabi of East Meadow marked his first Flag Day as a United States citizen with students at the Hemlock Flag Day Ceremony in June. Mr. Nabi, who immigrated to the United States from Pakistan in 2001, was the event's Master of Ceremony. He took the Oath of Citizenship in a Brooklyn courthouse on May 29. Mr. Nabi, known as G.N., has worked for Garden City Schools for five years, first at Hemlock School and currently at the Administration Building. "I'm really proud to be a U.S. citizen," Mr. Nabi, far left with Principal Audrey Bellovin, Superintendent Robert Feirsen, Assistant Superintendent Teresa Prendergast, and Hemlock students, said. He is looking forward to casting his vote for the nation's next president in November.
