The Nassau North Shore Christian Women's Club invites all women to its Things You "Auto Know" Luncheon on Sept. 2 at 11:30 a.m. at the George Washington Manor Restaurant, Old Northern Blvd., Roslyn. Police Report: Mischief & Mayhem

On August 8, a 23-year-old Hempstead man, a cashier at Sears, was arrested by store security and police for alleged incidents of taking duplicate cash receipts and placing them in the register as merchandise returns, so he could pocket the cash, which amounted to $1,000. PO Buonaiuto made the arrest... A car with defective rear lights driving on the wrong side of the road alerted police to an alleged drunk driver ( .15%) at Fourth Street/Rockaway Avenue, on August 10. The 30-year-old male motorist from Hempstead was charged with unsafe lane change and defective tail lights as well...Between August 6 and 7, someone stole a $700 pile of copper gutters at the Waldorf School... On August 6, a man described as 5' 6" tall, in his 20's, wearing a Yankee hat, dark sunglasses,a gray short sleeve shirt over a long white shirt, dark jeans, and gray sneakers, passed a note demanding money of a teller at Commerce Bank on Franklin Avenue. The robber received $6,000 and left...On August 5, after 4 PM, PO Sommer arrested a 16-year-old male from Garden City for breaking a pot and urinating in public view and another 16-year-old GC teen for breaking a pot and throwing rocks at a police car, near a Hilton Avenue residence...PO Dallolio issued a ticket for a loud party and another ticket for the possession of alcohol, to a 19-year-old Kilburn Road resident on August 6, at 2:20 am...A 20-year-old male from Garden City, and his pals, an 18-year-old female and a 21-year-old male, also from GC, were caught on a fire escape at the St. Paul's complex at 2:56 am on August 13 and they were arrested for trespass...

FD cleaned up after a 2-car accident occurred at Nassau Blvd. on August 6... On the same day, wires came down in the yard of a Kensington road residence...There was an overheated light ballast at 833 Franklin Avenue on August 6...A Freon leak caused concern at the hotel on Seventh Street on August 7. Natural ventilation was used...Smoke from a nearby outdoor barbecue that entered 1000 Franklin Avenue through a window caused an alarm on August 8...A carbon monoxide detector malfunctioned at a Westbury Road residence on the same day...A car hit a light pole and a tree before rolling over and eventually landing upright on Stewart Avenue, on August 10. The FD cleaned the area after pulling the victim from the car...
