Nassau County Police Third Squad detectives report the details of a serious vehicle accident that occurred on Tuesday August 12, at 2:35 P.M. in Garden City.

According to detectives, Gail Werner, 38, of Mineola, was operating her 2007 Saturn on 3rd Ave. at the intersection of Old Country Road. When the light turned green the driver made a left turn onto eastbound Old Country Rd. striking the victim, Barbara Walsh-Dryer, 53, of Rockville Centre, a pedestrian, who was walking northbound, crossing Old Country Rd.

Mrs. Walsh-Dryer sustained head trauma and internal injuries; she was transported to Winthrop University Hospital for treatment. The driver, Werner, was not injured. There have been no criminal charges made against the driver. A safety test was done on the vehicle, and passed.
