Garden City B Swim Team's Winning Streak Continues!

Continuing the team's winning streak, the Garden City B Swim Team overwhelmed Freeport at home last Saturday.

RESULTS

Jr. Girls Medley Relay: The relay team of Caitlin Powderly, Emily Donovan, Katherine Donovan and Mary Kate O'Sullivan placed 1st with Erin Wallace, Katie O'Neil, Helen Arellano and Sophia Powers coming in 2nd place.

Jr. Boys Medley Relay: The squad of Matthew Curry, Jack Donnelly, Ryan McCartney and Robert Hyer swam to a 1st place finish with the squad of Thomas Reina, Joe Levano, Ben Walsh and Matthew Varano swimming to a 2nd place finish.

Freestyle:

8 & Under Girls: Rose Kelly, Lauren Deluca and Kathryn Ward swam to an all GC 1St, 2nd and 3rd place finish respectively.

8& Under Boys: Kevin Curry, Harry Ernst easily swam to a 1st and 2nd place finish with Joe Graham pulling out a 3rd place finish.

9&10 Girls: Against tough competition, Katie Eigl secured a 3rd place finish.

9&10 Boys: Rob Hyer pulled ahead after the turn to win by a half a pool's length with Joe Levano taking 2nd.

11&12 Girls: Elizabeth Kane took an easy 1st place finish with Mary Kate O'Sullivan taking 2nd in a close finish.

11&12 Boys: GC swept this event with Joe Eigl, Ryan McCartney and Liam Fitzgerald taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

13&Up Girls: Emma Lane and Amanda Eigl placed 2nd and 3rd respectively in a close race.

13&Up Boys: In an all GC race Mike O'Sullivan, Brian Cunningham and Tom Lilly placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively.

Backstroke:

8 & under girls: Kelly Donovan and Delany Comerford, in a close race placed 1st and 2nd with Carolyn Kiely coming in 3rd.

8 & under boys: GC dominated this event with Kevin Curry, John Macchiarola and Harry Ernst placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

9&10 Girls: Caitlin Powderly secured a 3rd place finish against tough competition.

9&10 Boys: David Leary secured a 1st place finish with Andrew Wykowski taking 2nd. 11&12 Girls: In a close all GC finish Katie O'Neil placed 1st, Liz Kane 2nd and Erin Cunningham 3rd.

11&12 Boys: Tom Reina swam to an easy 1st place finish with Liam Fitzgerald placing 2nd.

13&Up Girls: Michelle Levano and Brigid Reina swam a neck and neck race with Michelle pulling out for a 2nd place finish in the last lap and Brigid Reina securing 3rd.

13&Up Boys: Brian Walsh place 1st with Brian Cunningham placing 2nd.

Breaststroke:

8 & under girls: GC delivered a powerful performance with Alexis Varano pulling ahead for a 1st place finish, Delaney Comerford taking 2nd and Jordan Murray 3rd place.

8 & under boys: Quinn Walsh took an early lead to place 1st with Joseph Macchiarolo placing 2nd.

9 &10 Girls: In a close race for 3rd Kathryn Donovan edged out Melanie Arellano.

9 &10 Boys: Easy beating the competition, Joe Levano, Will Eigl and James Rumsey take 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in this event respectively.

11 & 12 Girls: In an exciting all GC race Emily Donovan, Emily Mercandetti and Helen Arellano secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

11&12 Boys: Joe Eigl and Tom Reina swam to a strong 1st and 2nd place finish respectively.

13&Up Girls: In a neck and neck race Brigid Reina touches just behind Freeport to take 2nd place with Amanda Eigl swimming to a 3rd place finish.

13&Up Boys: GC dominated this event with Mike O'Sullivan swimming to an early lead and placing 1st, Kieran O'Sullivan 2nd and Tom Lilly 3rd.

Butterfly:

8& under Girls: Alexis Varano turned it on and came from behind to take 1st place with Rose Kelly coming in 2nd and Ashley Boccio securing 3rd.

8&underBoys: Gabriel Ragusa, Joe Graham and Joseph Macchiarola swam to an all GC finish placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively.

9&10 Girls: GC held close with Kathryn Donovan and Caitlin Powderly swimming away with 2nd and 3rd.

9&10 Boys: In a photo finish Matthew Curry places 1st less than a second ahead of Matthew Varano who took 2nd with Ben Walsh placing 3rd.

11&12 Girls: GC took all the glory in this event with Mary Kate O'Sullivan, Erin Cunningham and Helen Arellano placing in the top three spots respectively.

11&12 Boys: GC delivers another close butterfly heat with Ryan McCartney taking 1st and Jack Reina placing 2nd.

13&Up Girls: Emma Kane picked up points for the team with a 1st place finish.

13&Up Boys: GC sweeps this event with Brian Walsh 1st, Kieran O'Sullivan 2nd and James Polke 3rd.

Freestyle Relay:

Jr. Girls: The team of Erin Cunningham, Elizabeth Kane, Katie Eigl and Sophia Powers splashed to a 2nd place finish with Frances Brown, Alexandra Rudolph and Emily Mercandetti swimming to a 3rd place finish.

Jr. Boys: Taking a long lead for first was the team of David Leary, Joe Eigl, Robert Hyer and Jon Toto. Squad two comprised of Jack Reina, Thomas Reina, Willie Eigl and Liam Fitzgerald place 2nd with Aidan Polke, Jake Murray, Andrew Wykowski and James Rumsey placing 3rd.

Sr. Girls: A 1st place finish was secured by Michelle Levano, Brigid Reina, Emma Kane and Amanda Eigl.

Sr. Boys: The team of Brian Walsh, Tom Lilly, Michael O'Sullivan and Kieran O'Sullivan swam to a 1st place finish.

Congratulations to the coaches and the whole team. The Team party will be held on Wednesday August 13th at 5:30pm in the picnic area at the pool.
