National Young Leaders Conference
Devon Schay Devon Schay, a Garden City resident, recently attended the National Young Leader's Conference (NYLC) in Washington D.C., a unique leadership development conference in our nation's capital. During the 10-day program Devon had the opportunity to interact with government leaders and staff members from all three branches of government, members of the news media and representatives from different countries.
Devon was a 2007 Nassau All County Art Exhibitor; she is an equestrian and enjoys soccer, archery and varsity badminton. Currently, she is an apprentice at Crestwood Country Day School and will be entering her junior year in the Garden City High School. Devon would like to pursue a position as a page in the U.S. House of Representatives. Devon will attend the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference in January, to experience firsthand the Inauguration of the 56th President and Vice President of the United States. This special alumni-only program is held once every four years. Devon will meet with political experts and key decision-makers, chart the road to the White House and attend a gala, parade and concert.

Devon, whose relative was a victim in the December 7, 1993 LIRR Massacre was able to ask directly about Ms. McCarthy's current position on gun safety.
