News From The Children's Room
Our summer reading programs "Catch the Reading Bug" and "The Caterpillar Club" end on August 6th. Children who have completed 3 or 4 activities and won at least one prize have been invited to the Final shows! The Caterpillar Club's show, "Mr. S and His Hip Rockin' Music" will be held on Tuesday, August 5 at 11:00 AM. The Catch the Reading Bug's Final show, "Robert Rogers Puppet Show Bugtown Follies" is Wednesday, August 6 at 7:00 PM.
There were two winners of the Guessing Game for Week 4 - Julianne Larsson, who guessed 175, and Caroline Egan, who guessed 165. The actual amount of candy was 170! Winners split the prize of candy.

Story times are held on Mondays. No registration is required during the summer. The last Monday Story time of the summer will be held on August 4. The schedule is as follows:
10:00 AM Mother Goose for children ages 18-29 months with adult
11:00 AM Toddler for children ages 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 with an adult
1:30 PM Preschool for children ages 3 1/2 - 5 (no kindergarten)
7:00 PMKindergarten and First Grade
Story times for children with special needs will be held on Thursdays at 2:00 PM. These story times are for children in Special Education classes in Grades K-3. Caretakers are welcome to attend should the child's needs require attention. The last date for Fun Thursdays will be Thursday, August 7th.
Summer book discussions are now completed. Book discussions will start up again in September, and registration begins Saturday, September 6th.
Please check the library website www.gardencitypl.org for upcoming events and registration dates. Funding for these programs has been provided by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Priority for registration and participation is given to children who are Garden City Public Library cardholders.
