Rotary Inducts District Governer And President
Members and guests of the Mineola-Garden City Club gathered for libations poolside in the garden of Irene and Dick Goodwin's Brookville home to celebrate inductions of the new district governor, club officers and directors. Dick Goodwin is a past president of the club and the mayor of Brookville.
On June 29, at the home of Richard and Irene Goodwin of Brookville, members and guests of the Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club gathered to celebrate the induction of Thomas Gelsdorf as governor of Rotary District 7250 and of Ray Sikorski as club president for terms of one-year.
Officers installed were Jennifer Poupis, president-elect' Rosemarie DiSalvo, vice president; Peter Gall, secretary; Don Seyka, president-elect; Kathleen Petronis, treasurer; and Tom Tierney, immediate past president. Cyrus Ardehali, Louis Castellano, Barry Cosel-Pieper, Connie Deckel and Suzanne Saramak were installed as directors.
Rotary's purpose is to serve others through efforts to improve the community and to promote high ethical standards in business and professional life. Among the many service projects and programs undertaken by the Mineola-Garden City Rotary Club are Rotacare, which provides immeasurable and free medical services to those who could not otherwise afford it; the Gift of Life program; which provides life-saving cardiac surgery for children from all parts of the world; and scholarships for Garden City and Mineola high school students.
