The Long Island Museum in Stony Brook is proud to announce that Nancy Wernersbach of Garden City is a finalist in the museum's juried art competition, Summer on Long Island.

Wernersbach and other artists from across Long Island were invited to submit up to three works that best fit the theme, Summer on Long Island. Her watercolor painting, titled North Shore, Long Island, will be displayed in the museum's community room from August 16 through September 1, and is eligible to be one of four winning entries to hang in the art museum, along with the exhibition Art Students League of Long Island: Works from the Permanent Collection, from September 3 through 21, 2008.

The museum will host an artist's reception on Sunday, August 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. where all final entries will be on view and winners will be awarded. Anthony Morejon's woodwind trio chamber ensemble will perform classical music on flute, oboe and clarinet.

Located at 1200 Route 25A in Stony Brook, the Long Island Museum is a Smithsonian Affiliate dedicated to art and history as it relates to Long Island. The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Regular admission is $9 for adults, $7 for seniors and $4 for students 6-17.
