Long Island Business News will host its annual Golf Classic on Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Brookville Country Club in Glen Head.All proceeds will benefit Long Island Business News' Endowed Scholarship Fund at Hofstra University, which provides a financial award towards tuition for a masters-level student. This year's outing will include 18 holes of golf with a cart and caddy, brunch, an on-course lunch, a cocktail reception and elegant surf and turf dinner. Police Report: Mischief and Mayhem

On July 28, police conducted a truck stop and inspected 5 trucks with 21 tickets issued . Two trucks were taken out of service with 1 weight violation...On the same day, someone attempted to enter a NHP Road house and broke the window pane to a rear door. The person inside the house at the time reported this to police...On July 26, 5:30 AM, PO Bandl arrested a 24-year-old Stewart Manor man for allegedly speeding at 55 in a 30 mph zone, and for alleged DWI (.08%)...Police are investigating a burglary that took place at a Pine Street residence between July 24 and 26. A rear door was found ajar and an Ipod, Apple computer and docking station were found missing... PO Sansone arrested a 28-year-old Hempstead man for alleged DWI (refusal) at Meadow Street on July 25, 11:50 PM, after he was involved in a 2-car accident there...On July 22, someone stole an Ipod, and a Tom Tom GPS from an unlocked car parked at Field 9E. Value was $500...Between July 22 and 23, someone broke a $1500 window at GC Plaza...On July 21, 2:50 PM, a 56-year-old Elmont woman was arrested at Lord and Taylor for allegedly stealing 2 Diesel shorts, Lucky Brand shorts, Context pants and a $3 Jibbitz...On July 26, police responded to the call of a loud party at a St. James Street residence and issued appearance tickets ( one for noise and the other for being a danger to the community because of serving alcohol to minors) to a teen resident there...

On July 23, Prescott residents extinguished a cooking fire prior to FD arrival...Two inches of water filled a basement as firemen arrived with a sump pump and vac to rid a Merillon Avenue residence of water on July 24...A central air conditioning unit's motor overheated at a Heath Place house on July 24...On July 25, the FD removed a dead rabbit from a rear yard at a Brompton Rd. residence... A build up of grease caused a fire on a propane gas grill at a Sackville Road residence on July 25...A child pulled an alarm box at Adelphi University on July 27...
