St. Joseph's Grays Win CYO Baseball Championship
      The 2008 St. Joseph's Grays of Garden City have won their second consecutive Nassau/Suffolk CYO baseball championship, this time in the 6th grade division.       The Garden City B Swim Team has now won two meets in a row - the most recent against Bethpage this past Saturday by a score of 187 vs. 134. RESULTS Jr. Girls Medley Relay: Erin Cunningham, Annie Blanco, Katherine Donovan and Kelly George took 1st with a commanding lead. Squad 2 comes in 2nd.

Lizards vs. Dragons
      The Long Island Lizards of Major League Lacrosse will take on the San Francisco Dragons Saturday, July 26th at 7pm at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale, NY. The first 1,000 fans through the door will receive a Lizards Draw-String Bag courtesy of the Lax Hut.

      After a two week winning streak, the GC Pool Swim Team was defeated by Long Beach this past Saturday. Even though the team suffered its first loss, they remain positive and are focusing on their meet this week against Hempstead.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT BASKETBALL
      The field house is open for adult residents, ages 18 and older, for basketball "pick up" basketball games on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 10 p.m. This free program will run until August 20th. Proof of residency is required to enter the gym.

Meehan And Stimmler Win Horseshoe Title
      On Saturday, July 12, Chief Jim Meehan and Leo Stimmler defeated Paul Keller and Dennis Menger in the Garden City horseshoe championship sponsored by the American Horseshoe Federation. Meehan and Stimmler will now represent Long Island in the national championship in Las Vegas the weekend of December 13.

Centennials 3rd Grade Boys Massapequa Fathers Day Tournament
      On Friday June, 13th the Garden City Centennials traveled in style to this Intramural Soccer Tournament. 40 Boys and 10 coaches, which comprised of four teams, made the trip to this tournament via luxury coach. The teams each played a minimum of 3 highly competitive games. We had 3 teams finish in the top third of the tournament.

Massapequa Fathers Day Tournament
      Garden City Centennials 3rd graders entered four teams in this Fathers Day Soccer Tournament. Pictured here is the first place team which concluded the tournament as runners-up. The team led their division with a first place finish before a hard-fought loss of 1-0 with a few minutes left in OT of the championship game.

Recreation Department Theatre Camp
      Our theatre camp runs Monday through Friday the weeks of July 28th and August 4th in St.Paul's Cluett Hall. The camp is for any child age 7-12 who is a village resident. It is being run by Liam Bingham, GCHS '08, who will be attending NYU for Musical Theatre in the fall and Meaghan Young, GCHS '06, who has received two Irene Ryan National Scholarship Nominations for Acting at Siena College.

Recreation Department Team Handball Camp
      The Recreation Department will be running a team handball camp Monday through Thursday the week of August 11th in St.Paul's Field House. The camp is for any child age 9-14 who is a village resident. It is being run by Jesse Sorenson, a former member of the Junior National Team Handball team.
