Prize Winners
The Guessing Game winner for Week 3 was Joseph McNuff. His guess of 622 buttons was closest to the actual amount of 611 buttons! Joseph was rewarded with the book, Caps for Sale.

Storytimes
Story times are held on Mondays. No registration is required during the summer. The schedule is as follows:
10:00 AMMother Goose for children ages 18-29 months with adult
11:00 AMToddler for children ages 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 with an adult
1:30 PMPreschool for children ages 3 1/2 - 5 (no kindergarten)
7:00 PMKindergarten and First Grade
Story times for children with special needs will be held on Thursdays at 2:00 PM. These story times are for children in Special Education classes in Grades K-3. Caretakers are welcome to attend should the child's needs require attention.
Registration for the Summer Reading Club began on Monday, June 23rd and will continue until Wednesday, August 6th at 9:00 PM. The "Caterpillar Club" is for children ages 2 1/2 - 5 (no kindergarten) and the "Catch The Reading Bug" club is for children entering Grades K - 5.
Book Discussions, Craft Programs, Family Nights
The dates for the last book discussions of the summer are as follows:
The Lunch Bunch (for children entering 2nd Grade) will meet July 31st to discuss the book Mouse Soup. New Friends in a Book Club (for children entering 3rd Grade) will meet July 28th to discuss Harry Kitten and Tucker Mouse. Go Fourth! (for children entering 4th Grade) will meet July 31st to discuss Toys Go Out. The Page Turners (for children entering 5th Grade) will meet July 28th to discuss From the Mixed Up Files Of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. See flyer for additional details.
The schedule for the craft programs to be held on Tuesday, July 29th is as follows:
10:30 AM Chocolate Covered Worms with the Baking Coach
- For the 2 1/2 -5 year olds (no kindergarten), with an Adult
1:00 PM Waffles and Ice Cream with the Baking Coach
- For Grades K-2
2:00 PM Waffles and Ice Cream with the Baking Coach
- For Grades 3-5.
Registration is required. Please check with a librarian for availability. Programs are for Garden City Residents only.
Registration for the July 29th Craft Programs starts on July 22nd at 9:30 AM.
We will continue with the tradition of "Wednesday Night is Family Night" here at the library. All shows will start at 7:00 PM. Tickets are only required where indicated. Flyers will be available in the Children's Room. On Family Night, Wednesday, July 30th we will show the original 1968 version of the feature film "Love Bug"!
Flyers are available in the children's room detailing our summer programs including the Summer Reading Club, book discussions, craft and educational programs and Wednesday Night Family programs. Please check the library website www.gardencitypl.org for upcoming events and registration dates. Funding for these programs has been provided by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Priority for registration and participation is given to children who are Garden City Public Library cardholders.
