      Ms. Megan E. Hyland received the B.S.C. degree on Thursday, June 5 from Washington and Lee University. Commencement ceremonies for more than 435 Washington and Lee students were held on the university's historic Front Lawn.

School District Drops Effort To Seek Injunction
      The Garden City School District today announced it would drop its efforts to seek a temporary injunction that would prevent the Town of Hempstead Industrial Development Agency (IDA) from granting significant tax abatements to the prospective purchasers of the Garden City Hotel.

      Matthew R. Pewarski, son of Mr. Glen T. Pewarski and Mrs. Annmarie Pewarski of Garden City, graduated Sunday, May 25 from Amherst College in Amherst, Mass. Pewarski, who majored in economics and history, entered Amherst's College after graduating from Chaminade High School in Mineola. He receives a bachelor of arts Degree.

Stewart School Fifth Graders Present The Magic Flute
      The Stewart School fifth-grade class presented Mozart's sublime opera Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute)in June, marking the opera program's 70th year. Last fall, the fifth-grade class from Stewart and Stratford schools traveled to Manhattan to attend a dress rehearsal of Julie Taymor's magical production of the opera at the Metropolitan Opera House.
