While this year has been a year of great accomplishments for Garden City sports, our five and six year old boys have recently shown that they too can bring honor to our home town. The Garden City Bombers tee ball team recently played in the Major League Baseball pre-All Star tee ball game in front of an enthusiastic crowd. Each year, Major League Baseball has a pre-all star festival in the city of the All Star Game. This year's "FanFest" was held in New York's Jacob Javits Center, and an astro-turf baseball stadium was set up in the middle of the convention center floor, complete with a Jumbotron scoreboard, TV cameras, professional announcers, first class stands, outfield walls, and player amenities.

Our local five and six year old heroes were led by manager Don Landolphi. The two inning game was played against Rockaway. The Baby Bombers roster includes cousins Chris Schwantner and Matthew Mohen, Liam and Kieran Dorney, Billy Willis, Tom and Brian Boland, Patrick Riggers, Billy Castoro, Dean Trapani, Grant Krawiec, Jim McQuaid, Jason Brown, Jack Thompson, and Kyle Flynn.

The Garden City Bombers travel baseball club the past two years has sent teen age baseball teams to Florida and Santo Domingo where they have played in major league facilities, and one player to Olympic qualifiers. This past year started a six and under instructional baseball program, which is professionally coached, under the supervision Lou Santos and Don Landolphi. The purpose of this 6 and under program is to use professional instructions so that kids learn baseball mechanics correctly.
