Jacqueline Manning, of Garden City, is spending two weeks as a Landmark Volunteer at Wagon Road Camp Two, a multicultural day camp established by the Children's Aid Society of New York. Jacqueline, daughter of William and Cynthia Manning, is a member of a team that will work directly with the campers as well as help with maintenance projects.

Jacqueline, a student at Garden City High School, is a member of the Fashion Club and the Key Club, a community service oriented program. She has participated in Food for Friends, is a Winthrop University Hospital volunteer, and has also volunteered at Bible Camp.

Landmark Volunteers, based in Sheffield, MA, is a non-profit summer service organization offering high school students the opportunity to perform community service at nationally recognized historical, cultural, environmental, or social service institutions located throughout the country. Now in its seventeenth year, Landmark Volunteers provides each host organization with an entire team of hard-working young people capable of accomplishing a great deal of much-needed manual labor.

Wagon Road Camp gives children the chance to flex their emotional, physical and mental muscles by providing a complete day camping experience for hundreds of children. There is a separate Arts and Crafts and Drama building, a heated swimming pool, athletic fields, a barn and farmyard with animals, and many paved pathways where children can explore. Youngsters aged 6-11 are placed in small groups to allow for their full involvement in all activities. Specialists in Outward Bound activities, athletics, horsemanship, theater arts, nature/ecology studies and fine arts complement the day camp staff. All the camp activities are carefully designed to emphasize creativity and skill development.
