Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto announced that the third week of the 2008 "Music Under the Stars" concert series will kick off on Monday, July 21, with performances by The Wrenditions, Kid Kyle and The Chiclettes at Ellsworth W. Allen Town Park, Motor Avenue in Farmingdale.

"The Wrenditions is a New York based acappella group featuring six voices, whose name is inspired by the wren, a small song bird," Supervisor Venditto said. "Their unique sound includes not only songs from the 50's and 60's, but also Tin Pan Alley standards, Rock & Roll, and pop, performed in "doo wop" style.

"The Chiclettes perform classic girl group tributes, recalling famous acts that dominated the music scene of the 50's and 60's such as the Shirelles and the Crystals," Supervisor Venditto continued. "The group takes the audience on a musical journey through the history of female rock & roll."

About Kid Kyle, the Supervisor stated that he continues to wow audiences where he goes with his talent, showmanship and maturity.

"This 12-year-old singing sensation may have gotten his talent thanks to his genetic makeup, or perhaps it's because he shares a birthday with Elvis Presley," Supervisor Venditto said.

On Tuesday, July 22, Lou Gramm - former lead singer of Foreigner - will perform at John J. Burns Town Park, Merrick Road in Massapequa, beginning at 8 p.m.

"Powerhouse vocalist and songwriter Lou Gramm has become the voice of a generation," Supervisor Venditto said. "The lead vocalist and co-writer of the multi-platinum band Foreigner, famous for chart toppers such as Feels Like the First Time, Cold As Ice and Hot Blooded, Lou Gramm remains one of the most recognizable performers in music today."

On Wednesday, July 23, Sound on Sound Music will perform at Syosset-Woodbury Community Park, 7800 Jericho Turnpike in Woodbury, beginning at 8 p.m.

"This band began in a recording studio creating original tunes in the 70's and continues to produce original music to this day," Supervisor Venditto said. "Since the band is so adept at dance music of all different eras, they have performed for thousands of wedding receptions and private functions."

On Thursday, July 24, the Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra will perform at the John F. Kennedy Middle School on Broadway in Bethpage, with a special 7 p.m. start.

"The Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Louis Panacciulli, performs a wide repertoire of popular and light classical music," Supervisor Venditto said. "The orchestra has become a favorite attraction in many Long Island parks as part of its summer concert series."

On Friday, July 25, The Cast of Beatlemania will perform at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Beach, Larrabee Avenue in Oyster Bay, beginning at 8 p.m.

"This foursome gives Beatles fans the opportunity to see John, Paul, George and Ringo live on stage performing those great hits," Supervisor Venditto said. "Thanks to the Cast of Beatlemania, we have a second chance to witness the great songs of this long-loved group."

On Saturday, July 26, Jack Jones performs at John J. Burns Town Park in Massapequa. The show begins at 8 p.m.

"With a disarming smile, an effortless engaging wit and a vocal style that stands alone, Jack Jones has been ranked with some of the greats - such as Mel Torme and Tony Bennett," Supervisor Venditto said. "He is described as a true singers' singer."

The 2008 "Music Under the Stars" summer concert series takes place over 32 nights throughout July and August at various locations throughout the Town of Oyster Bay. Shows are free to Town residents and begin at 8:00 p.m. on most evenings. It is suggested that residents bring a lawn chair or blanket to outdoor performances. For more information about the "Music Under the Stars" program, visit the Town of Oyster Bay Web site at www.oysterbaytown.com or call the Department of Community and Youth Services at 797-7900.

"The Department of Community and Youth Services, Cultural and Performing Arts Division (CAPA), has assembled an outstanding lineup of talent for this summer's 'Music Under the Stars' concert series," Supervisor Venditto stated. "As in years past, there will be such a variety of shows available that certainly everybody can find something they will enjoy. Just bring along a lawn chair or blanket and prepare to have a great time."
