Summer Art Workshops for Kids
School's out for summer and there's still time to sign up for two exciting kids' art workshops at the Long Island Museum of American Art, History & Carriages in Stony Brook.
On July 22 & 24 from 1 to 3 p.m., children in grades four and up will have a chance to create their own still life paintings in Exploring Acrylics. Kids will experiment with different colors and textures in this creative workshop with elementary art teacher Renee Blank. Registration fee is $75 per student or $65 for members for the two day class.
Accomplished local artist Elizabeth Greaf will lead a Watercolor Painting workshop for kids in grades three and up on August 5 through 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. Aspiring young artists won't want to miss an opportunity to explore landscapes and watercolor techniques with an award-winning professional. Registration for this workshop is $120 per student or $110 per member. Pre-registration with payment is required for all summer programs.
Don't let kids spend those summer days in front of the T.V. Make a date with history at The Long Island Museum! Located at 1200 Route 25A in Stony Brook, the Long Island Museum is a Smithsonian Affiliate dedicated to art and history with a Long Island Connection. Museum hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. For more information about summer programs for kids, call 631-751-0066 x212 or visit the museum web site at
