Three Tenors In Concert At Eisenhower Park
Caledon will perform on Saturday evening, July 26, 2008, at a free concert at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park, announced Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi.
The three tenors, Ivan Sharpe, Alan Beck and Jamie MacDougall, together with their musical director Michael Barnett, have been friends since music college, putting aside solo careers in opera to form Caledon in 2003. They are known world-wide for their non-stop camaraderie and renditions of such classics as "500 Miles" and "My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose."
Their kilts (not necessarily the luminous orange variety featured on their website - www.caledonmusic.com) have become the trademark of the tenors, worn to establish their all-important Scottish identity. They strive to "bring fresh and contemporary arrangements of 300-year-old songs to a new audience."
The July 26 concert will be the only Long Island appearance on Caledon's World Tour. Joining Caledon on stage will be the Nassau County Emerald Society Firefighters Pipes and Drums and the Schade Academy of Irish Dancing. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
